Community Training
Sessions in basic life support and defibrillator awareness, run by ambulance service volunteers and staff through EEAST Heart. We help deliver them in our own community.
The programme
About EEAST Heart
The ambulance service describes EEAST Heart as a “community based education programme in basic life support (BLS) and defibrillator awareness (AED) for the members of the public run by EEAST volunteers and staff”, aimed at “teaching members of the public what to do in a medical emergency and giving them the confidence to make potentially life-saving decisions”.
The sessions we deliver in our own community are booked through EEAST Heart.
Our group is part of the East of England Ambulance Service Charity. A donation can be made to the charity itself, or direct to the Colchester group. Giving direct comes straight to us and goes towards operating the Colchester group, which includes the equipment we train with.
Donations welcome
Our group is part of the East of England Ambulance Service Charity. A donation made direct to us goes towards running the Colchester group, which includes the equipment we use to train with at events.
For members of the public
It is a community based programme, taught by ambulance service volunteers and staff rather than by a training company.
Basic life support
What to do in a medical emergency, and the confidence to make potentially life-saving decisions.
Defibrillator awareness
How a defibrillator works and how to use one.
How to book
Requests are made on the ambulance service's own training request form. Once a session is arranged, one of the local teams comes out to run it.
Course content and availability are set by the ambulance service. The current detail is on the EEAST Heart page.
